We are a few short hours away from the kickoff of week 6 of the 2011 NFL season, which means it is time to make some hard decisions about who you will start this week in fantasy football. Amazingly enough we are almost halfway through most fantasy football regular seasons. The quarterback position has some interesting start possibilities, as well as guys you should definitely sit in light of week six byes for Arizona, Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, Seattle and Tennessee.
Fantasy Football Week 6 Advice: Sit, Start Projections For QBs
As would be expected, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Cam Newton are at the top of our numberFire.com projections for the week. This Top 15 list features primarily quarterbacks you will be starting this week, but a few options that are on your bench, leaving you with a head-shaking decision. Everybody knows to start the Rodgers, Brady and Brees QBs of the world. You don't come to us for that kind of information. And if you are not sure if you should start Aaron Rodgers this week, or any week (outside of his bye week), we have bigger issues to discussion.
Sleepers
An intriguing sleeper this week is 49ers QB Alex Smith. He has not put up spectacular numbers, but his ability to avoid turnovers adds tremendous value. He is coming off a week five blowout of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in which he only passed for 170 yards, but he also added three touchdowns. He has some modest scrambling skills and Detroit's defense has enough question marks to make him an intriguing start.
Browns QB Colt McCoy is another interesting sleeper. The Browns passing attack doesn't impress a lot of people, but the Oakland Raiders defense has been lit up at times in the passing attack. Starting McCoy is not the easiest decision in the world, but if you are desperate, he is not the worst in the world. I realize that is Inspiring advice.
Some people might find themselves questioning whether to stick with Josh Freeman a week after he put up a stinker against the 49ers. He faces a Saints pass defense that isn't bad, but is questionable enough that Freeman could get a decent number of yards out of the game. If you are on the fence, depending on your back, I'd suggest rolling the dice on a bounce-back at home from Josh Freeman.
