Fantasy Football Week 5 Tight End Projections: Cook, Lewis Could Work For The Bye Week
Week 5 is the first week when teams are on a bye. See how that shakes up the projections for fantasy football.
Is your main tight end on a bye this week? Is there a backup worthy of starting? We check into the Week 5 projections from our partner, numberFire.com. Their super-computer has all the facts and figures that it crunches up with mathematical algorithms, then projects a player’s worth for the weekend.
When in doubt, go with the Super Bowl champs. This week’s top tight end is Jermichael Finley of the Green Bay Packers. He knocks Rob Gronkowski from the top spot, but the Gronk only drops to second place.
Further down, there are some possible replacement tight ends available for bye week fill-ins. Jared Cook had a big game last week and might finally become a steady target for Matt Hasselbeck. Marcedes Lewis in Jacksonville is another player who at times has shown some fantasy promise. And Visanthe Shiancoe in Minnesota is another guy available in leagues that could make a nice bye week play.
* Fantasy Points Projections are based on the Yahoo! and ESPN default scoring settings. Quarterbacks are scored with 1 point for every 25 passing yards, and 4 points for every touchdown. For running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends, they are scored with 1 point for every 10 total yards, and 6 points for every touchdown. This is a non-PPR projection.
Injured players appear on the list, this is their projection IF they play.
