The New England Patriots won another shootout, outlasting the Washington Redskins 34-27. The star of the victory was Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski who caught six passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns in a thoroughly dominant display. Gronkowski set the single season record for touchdowns by a tight end, surpassing Antonio Gates and Vernon Davis with 15 touchdowns.
Rob Gronkowski Fantasy Update: Patriots Tight End Decimates Redskins Secondary
Gronkowski is off to a dominant first two years in the NFL and could potentially re-write the record books in short order. He has 25 touchdowns in his first two seasons and has a shot at setting the record for most receiving touchdowns by any position player. He is three back of Randy Moss for second and four back of Bill Groman for first.
Gronkowski has turned into a fantasy machine this season, leading all tight ends even before his monster performance on Sunday. He will pass Jimmy Graham in yards and of course leads in touchdowns making him the total package. It will be interesting to see how folks draft him in 2012. If the Patriots offense can continue to dominate, there is no reason to think he won't sustain this high level of success.
