Fantasy Football Week 13 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Start Eli Manning; Sit Philip Rivers

Having trouble decided who to start and sit on your fantasy football team in Week 13? Maybe this will help.

This is the last week of the regular season for many fantasy football leagues while some leagues are just entering the playoffs. This is the most important game of the season for many teams, especially if they’re on the bubble of getting eliminated from the post season.

If you’re having trouble figuring out who you should start and who you should sit, take a look at our list of Start ‘ems and Sit ‘ems.

Quarterbacks:

Eli Manning QB New York Giants -- Start

The Giants are facing the best team in the NFL, the Green Bay Packers, on Sunday. The Giants may try to run the ball a lot to limit the time that the Packers' offense is on the field but that will likely only work for a short period of time. Aaron Rodgers is going to score and he's going to score often. Manning is going to have to play catchup and throw the ball a lot to keep up with the Packers on the scoreboard. Luckily for him, the Packers have the second to last ranked pass defense. Start Eli in Week 13.

Philip Rivers QB San Diego Chargers -- Sit

Philip Rivers has been a turnover machine so far this season, especially in the last few weeks. He and his team are traveling all the way across the country to face the Jaguars in Jacksonville and their top-five pass defense. Rivers should be on your bench in Week 13, and maybe beyond.

Running Backs:

Chris Johnson RB Tennessee Titans -- Start

CJ2K has been a tough guy to figure out in 2011. When I told you to start him, he runs for 13 yards on 12 carries and when I tell you to sit him, he runs for almost 200 yards. Well, I'm going to go ahead and say start him in Week 13. He's facing the Bills, who have the leagues No. 21 run defense, and I'm assuming (hoping) that Chris Johnson will have another big game.

Steven Jackson RB St. Louis Rams -- Sit

Steven Jackson is a beast and he's been good this year. However, he and the Rams are traveling to San Francisco to face the 49ers and their top-ranked run defense on Sunday. I doubt that the Rams will be able to get much going on the ground and eventually they'll likely have to abandon the run game all together. This is a good week for you to give Jackson a break.

Wide Receivers:

Victor Cruz WR New York Giants -- Start

Victor Cruz has emerged as one of Eli Manning's favorite targets in New York and since the Giants are likely going to be forced to pass a lot to keep up with the Packers, Cruz has a good chance of having a big game. The Packers' pass defense is bad and Cruz should be able to take advantage of it.

Roddy White WR Atlanta Falcons -- Sit

Roddy White has had two straight monster games but this week the Falcons are facing the Texans and their second ranked pass defense. White will have to go head-to-head with Johnathan Joseph and I wouldn't be surprised to see Joseph hold White to a very mediocre game. This may be a game to sit White.

Tight Ends:

Fred Davis TE Washington Redskins -- Start

Fred Davis could have a big game against the Jets on Sunday. The secondary, which includes Darrelle Revis, will be busy shutting down the Redskins wide receivers and may leave Davis as Grossman's best (and only) option. Davis is worth a start in Week 13.

Owen Daniels TE Houston Texans -- Sit

Owen Daniels hasn't been in the end zone with the football in his hands since Week 4 and the fact that he's got T.J. Yates in the backfield throwing the ball should scare you away. It doesn't really matter who the Texans are playing, it's not ever going to be a favorable matchup. Sit Owens in Week 13.

Defenses:

Tennessee Titans -- Start

The Bills have struggled in recent weeks and Ryan Fitzpatrick hasn't played well (except for last week) in quite a while. The Titans defense/special teams have scored two touchdowns in the last three games and they might be able to stretch that out into three out of four games. Start them this weekend.

Detroit Lions -- Sit

The Lions are facing the best passing attack in the NFL on Sunday when they travel to New Orleans to play the Saints. Drew Brees and the Saints are on fire and there's no reason to believe that the Lions defense will be able to stop them from scoring as much as they want. Sit the Lions defense in Week 13.
