The Arizona Cardinals sat Beanie Wells on Wednesday as they prepare for Sunday's divisional tilt with the San Francisco 49ers. Wells has been dealing with knee, thumb and hamstring issues all season long, and the odds are high that the Cardinals are simply managing the running back. Keep an eye on the Thursday and Friday injury reports. If he remains a DNP, the odds decrease dramatically, but I would expect him to get on the practice field Thursday and Friday.
Beanie Wells Injury Update: Cardinals Running Back Sits Out Wednesday Practice
Of course, even if he plays and is 100%, Wells faces a 49ers rush defense that has been tops in the league. They have not given up a 100-yard rusher in two years and have not given up a rushing touchdown thus far this season. They will look to continue those streaks on Sunday against the Cardinals. Wells is generally a guy you start each week, but if you have alternatives on your bench, it might be worth sitting Wells this weekend. If you are in a playoff battle, Wells’ upside is fairly limited on Sunday.
