The Minnesota Vikings received some good news on Thursday as running back Adrian Peterson returned to the practice field for the first time since injuring his ankle against the Oakland Raiders. Peterson was limited in his participation, but Leslie Frazier thought his workout was encouraging.
Adrian Peterson Injury Update: Vikings RB Returns To Practice
No decision has been made as to Peterson's status for Sunday. He will likely be listed as questionable and be a game-time decision on Sunday. If Peterson cannot go Toby Gerhart gets the start again. If Peterson does go, it will be interesting to see if he splits the work with Gerhart or gets right back in as the primary back. My guess is that AP sits out another week. He could still get back in, but given the Vikings current 2-10 record, it seems foolish to try and rush Peterson back from his injury.
The Vikings face a Detroit Lions rush defense that isn't bad, but isn't particularly great. The Vikings will potentially be without Christian Ponder who has missed two straight days of practice. If Joe Webb gets the start, the team could rely even more on the run against the Detroit Lions. If AP can't go, Toby Gerhart remains a decent start.
