Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden had a monster performance against the New York Jets, but the performance was dampened by the news that he suffered a groin injury in the fourth quarter. McFadden claims it is not serious, but groin injuries can always be a little touchy. McFadden finished the day with 171 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Darren McFadden Injury Update: Groin Injury Ends Fantasy Explosion In Fourth Quarter
When McFadden left the game with a little under five minutes left, Michael Bush filled in quite capably, capping off a solid day with a 28-yard reception. Bush finished with 22 rushing yards, 35 receiving yards and a touchdown. McFadden will likely be limited in practice this week, but it remains to be seen how this injury will impact him next week.
I would not be surprised to see Bush have a more prominent role even if McFadden plays next Sunday against the Patriots. The Raiders have developed a strong rushing attack and Bush has been a pivotal part of in the past. Bush remains a solid handcuff to McFadden throughout the season even if this injury proves to be nothing. McFadden has always had the talent to be great, but injuries have often been an issue. And as fantasy football tells you, hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
