Steven Jackson Injury Update: Surprise Active Status Results In Limited Play

The St. Louis Rams threw folks a bit of a curve ball on Sunday as they activated injured running back Steven Jackson for their game with the Baltimore Ravens. As a 4:05pm ET game many owners had already made up their minds on how to handle Jackson given the late start. If you didn't have enough late running back and flex options, you likely had him on your bench for the game.

If you had him on your bench for the game, there was a double-dose of good news. He only rushed for 23 yards and left the game not because of injury but because the score was already getting out of hand. The Rams went with Cadillac Williams the rest of the way rather than risk aggravating Jackson's quad. If you decided to start Jackson because of his active status, my apologies.

If Jackson is in fact healthy heading into the Rams matchup this Sunday with the Washington Redskins, he could be in line for a big workload. The Redskins are 2-0 heading into Monday Night Football, but this is a team with which the Rams can hang from whistle to whistle. Given that, it would mean a busy day for the running game. A healthy Steven Jackson would be quite the plus heading into that game.

At this point we’ll keep an eye out for updates on Steven Jackson’s status. Head coach Steve Spagnuolo will likely meet with the media on Monday and will hopefully provide an update on Jackson’s quad.
