Tim Tebow may play some running back this weekend when the New York Jets take on the New England Patriots, head coach Rex Ryan told reporters Thursday. With Bilal Powell (shoulder) and Joe McKnight (ankle) not practicing and not expected to play, Tebow could be in line for a significant role behind Shonn Greene.
Tim Tebow to running back, and what it means for your fantasy team
Jets head coach Rex Ryan said that Tim Tebow may spend some time at running back this week with Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight banged up. We break down the fantasy implications.

The fact that the Jets have yet to sign another running back lends creedence to Tebow taking on a different role in the backfield. The Jets also have Jonathan Grimes to help shoulder the rushing load if need be. Tebow has 64 yards on 18 carries this season, while Grimes has yet to play.
Fantasy Impact: Tebow is much better equipped than the 5’10, 201-pound Grimes to handle a heavy number of carries, not to mention more experienced. Expect both to take a back seat to Greene, however, especially coming off his 161-yard, three-touchdown performance last week.
The Jets seem to be doing everything they can to make Tebow into a productive contributor on offense. Perhaps he will finally take to playing running back, but you should wait and see before making a hasty move on the waiver wire.
