Calvin Johnson shut down on Monday Night Football, disappointing fantasy owners
Calvin Johnson had just three receptions for 34 yards off 11 targets during Monday night’s game between the Lions and the Bears. We break down the fantasy implications.
Johnson's bad night was because of a combination of dropped passes, bad throws and a tremendous job in coverage by cornerback Charles Tillman. The output was easily Johnson's lowest of the season. He was averaging more than 100 yards receiving per game heading into the matchup.
Fantasy Impact: Suffice it to say, Johnson’s night probably ruined the weekend for many fantasy owners. Megatron is so physically imposing, it’s impossible to recommend benching him in any league format. Unfortunately, an inconsistent Stafford could mean that this won’t be Johnson’s last dud performance of the year.
The Lions have yet another difficult defensive matchup next week, facing off against the Seattle Seahawks. Consider Monday's performance an outlier for now, and keep Johnson as your WR1 despite the potential for more Detroit struggles.
