Matt Cassel will start for the Kansas City Chiefs against the San Diego Chargers on Thursday, Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star reports. Brady Quinn left Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders due to a head injury, and has been ruled out for Week 9.
Matt Cassel to start Thursday, restoring fantasy value with Brady Quinn out
Matt Cassel has been officially announced as the starter for the Chiefs’ matchup against the Chargers on Thursday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Quinn had been starting since Week 5 after Cassel suffered a head injury of his own against the Baltimore Ravens. Cassel replaced Quinn on Sunday, and went 20-for-30 passing for 218 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Ricky Stanzi is expected to back up Cassel on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact: Cassel played relatively well when thrust back into action against the Raiders, but he is still hard to recommend as a fantasy option. He has thrown 10 interceptions to just six touchdowns this season, making him an iffy QB2 even in deep two-quarterback leagues.
If you are forced to play Cassel this week, at least you’ll be getting a good matchup. The Chargers’ defense has given up 14 passing touchdowns this season, with just seven interceptions.
