Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said on Monday that Ryan Williams needs surgery on his shoulder, forcing him to miss the remainder of the 2012 season. This is the second Cardinals running back to go down with a major injury this year.
Ryan Williams will miss remainder of 2012 for fantasy owners
The Cardinals will be without Ryan Williams for the rest of the season. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Williams just can’t stay healthy. He missed all of 2011 with a ruptured patellar tendon, and now he’ll be on the sidelines after suffering a shoulder injury against the Rams in Week 5. Beanie Wells is not expected to return until late in the season, so William Powell looks like he’ll be the favorite to take over at running back for now. LaRod Stephens-Howling and Alfonso Smith will be in the mix as well, but the Cardinals ground game is not looking promising at this point.
