San Francisco 49ers QB Alex Smith (concussion) is officially inactive for Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears. Smith was already ruled out earlier on Monday. The news was a bit of a stunner, as Smith got limited practice and was on track to suit up, but he never got cleared by a neurologist.
Alex Smith inactive with concussion, Colin Kaepernick not a recommended fantasy option
Alex Smith is inactive for MNF with a concussion, despite getting limited practice this week. We break down the fantasy implications.

Colin Kaepernick will make the first start of his NFL career. The second-year player filled in for Smith last week against the Rams.
Fantasy Impact: Smith will try again in Week 12. This time, I wouldn't pencil him in until he gets medical clearance. He has QB2 upside against the Saints' Swiss cheese defense.
Kaepernick may have more fantasy upside than Smith with his dual-threat ability, but I don’t recommend starting him against the ferocious Bears defense.
