Colin Kaepernick has been the starting quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, according to reports. Kaepernick started last week's game against the Chicago Bears with Alex Smith ruled out due to a concussion. Niners head coach Jim Harbaugh said that the decision to start Kaepernick this week was not related to Smith's health, however.
Colin Kaepernick named 49ers starting quarterback: Fantasy implications
Colin Kaepernick has been named the starting quarterback of the 49ers for Sunday’s game against the Saints. We break down the fantasy implications.

Kaepernick went 16-for-23 passing for 243 yards and two touchdowns in a blowout win over what was considered to be a dominant Bears defense. As for Smith, he has yet to be cleared to play and his status is still iffy.
Fantasy Impact: It appears that the Harbaugh truly believes Kaepernick give the 49ers the best chance to win. It was no doubt a difficult decision, considering the fact that Smith hasn’t been bad by any means this season. Kaepernick proved he could be a special player against the Bears, however.
The 49ers are going from playing one of the league’s best defenses to one of the league’s worst this week, so it’s hard not to like Kaepernick’s fantasy prospects. Considering his ability to run the ball, Kaepernick is easily worth starting consideration in standard 10-team fantasy formats.
