San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will start on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints instead of Alex Smith, according to safety Donte Whitner. He said Friday on The Dan Patrick Show (via Pro Football Talk) that not only would Kaepernick start this week but suggested that players were under the impression that Kaepernick was now the team's starting quarterback.
49ers safety: Colin Kaepernick to start in Week 12; fantasy value stable
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will start on Sunday, according to safety Donte Whitner. We break down the fantasy implications.

Kaepernick threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns against the Chicago Bears in place of Smith, who had suffered a concussion a week earlier. There have been conflicting reports this week about whether Smith has been cleared to return and if a decision on a starter for Week 12 has been reached.
Fantasy Impact: Kaepernick is the hot hand so it would not be a surprise at all if he starts. Fantasy owners have to be intrigued by Kaepernick’s potential and the Saints should be a good matchup for him in Week 12.
Assuming he starts, Kaepernick should be considered a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback on Sunday.
