Hitting the Bullseye
Jason Witten, DAL
Witten was targeted 15 times on Thursday, catching nine passes for 74 yards and no scores. For the season, he has caught 82 of his 114 targets for 710 yards, but just one touchdown. He is one of the top targeted tight ends, but does seem to be forgotten in the red zone this season.
Brandon Pettigrew, DET
Pettigrew also saw 15 targets on Thursday, catching eight passes for 74 yards and no touchdowns. He has caught 54 of his 91 targets this season, good for 513 yards and two touchdowns. I thought he could be more of a red zone target in the dangerous Detroit Lions offense this season, but that has yet to be the case.
Missing the Mark
Dwayne Allen, IND
After seeing 11 targets last week, Allen was targeted six times by quarterback Andrew Luck, catching three balls for 36 yards and no scores on Sunday. Allen was filling in for injured teammate Coby Fleener. Allen now has 34 receptions for 385 yards and two scores on the season.
Jimmy Graham, NO
Graham was targeted six times by quarterback Drew Brees against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, catching just four balls for 33 yards and no touchdowns. Graham has now caught 55 of his 83 targets for 595 yards and eight touchdowns this season, and continues to be a must start in all leagues.
Vernon Davis, SF
Davis appeared to be back in the good graces of the 49ers offense after being targeted eight times in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears. His expanded role was short lived, however, as Davis saw just one target Sunday from quarterback Colin Kaepernick, finishing the game with no receptions. He is probably droppable at this point, unless you play in leagues that require a tight end.
