Marcel Reece is expected to maintain a significant role within the Oakland Raiders' offense even if Darren McFadden is able to return from a significant ankle injury this week, according to the Contra Costa Times. Reece has racked up 400 total yards as a rusher and receiver over the last three weeks with McFadden and Mike Goodson out.
Marcel Reece to maintain role if Darren McFadden returns: Fantasy implications
Marcel Reece is expected to maintain a significant role within the Raiders’ offense even if Darren McFadden is able to return this week. We break down the fantasy implications.

Both head coach Dennis Allen and starting quarterback Carson Palmer said that Reece should continue to see touches if/when McFadden is able to return to the field.
“It gives us another dimension,” Palmer said. “The way he’s run, you don’t expect a fullback to come in and be the starting tailback and be as good as he’s been.
Fantasy Impact: McFadden and Goodson are both back in practice, although they were limited on Wednesday. If either is able to play, McFadden especially, Reece’s fantasy value will take a big hit. Regardless of what is being reported, McFadden has been the most important piece in the Raiders’ offense for too long to suddenly be relegated to the bench full time.
What could ultimately happen is that neither back is reliable fantasy option in standard leagues going forward. We will see what happens this week against the Cleveland Browns. Reece can probably still be considered a decent RB2/Flex play in PPR leagues regardless of McFadden's return.
