Week Nine is going to be a difficult week for those fantasy owners who are required to start a tight end. The tight ends who have a bye this week include Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Vernon Davis and Dustin Keller. Of course, there are plenty of options out there but the question is who will put up the greatest amount of points?
Fantasy Football Rankings, Week 9: Tight Ends
Some of the strong fantasy tight end matchups are examined and our Week 9 Tight End Rankings.

Jason Witten had a really big game for catches and yards in Week Eight but again didn't reach pay dirt. If you started him in a standard league, he got you sixteen points and in a PPR league, he scored a whopping thirty-four points. I wouldn't expect him to duplicate those numbers this week but Romo will continue to heavily target Witten and the Falcons have been giving up points to the tight end position.
Jimmy Graham had his best week since Week Two, putting up five receptions for sixty-three yards and a touchdown. If Graham continues to stay healthy, he could put up some big numbers down the stretch. Brees targeted him ten times against the Broncos and I think that he'll continue to feed Graham the ball. I think his matchup against the Eagles will result in a very good game.
Tony Gonzalez has been quiet over the Falcons past two games. He’s put up only six points in standard leagues and thirteen points in PPR leagues in those two matchups combined. I don’t think he’ll fall into a major slump but the situation bears watching to see if the Atlanta offense is heading in a different direction.
My predictions for tight ends that will have a strong Week 9:
Heath Miller, Steelers - Miller is taking on a Giants defense that let Jason Witten run wild on them. In the Steelers first seven games, Miller has reached the end zone in five of them and has caught at least three passes in every game. I am very high on Miller this week.
Greg Olsen, Panthers- If you're looking to play the matchups, Olsen against Washington is one that you will want to take advantage of. The Redskins have been giving up an average of twelve points per game to tight ends. I'm starting Olsen in all the leagues I own him. I think he'll score at least ten points this week.
Jermaine Gresham, Bengals- Gresham has a great matchup against the Broncos, who are giving up the third most points to tight ends. He hasn't had a real breakout game this season but I'm predicting that this will be that game. I also like that he's caught at least three passes in every game thus far.
