Cowboys vs. Falcons: Fantasy football projections featuring Tony Romo, Matt Ryan and Julio Jones

We break down the pertinent fantasy projections for the Week 9 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons.

Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

The Atlanta Falcons host the Dallas Cowboys for Sunday Night Football in Week 9, a matchup that will include several fantasy studs on both sides. To help you prepare your fantasy football lineup this week, we’ve got player projections courtesy of numberFire.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys offense has been up and down in 2012. Tony Romo threw four interceptions last week against New York, but he still finished with 437 passing yards and two touchdowns, helping several receiving targets rack up the stats as well. Injuries will again be a factor for Dallas in Week 9. DeMarco Murray doesn’t look like he’ll be playing, and Felix Jones is banged up as well. Jones is questionable, but if he doesn’t play, Phillip Tanner will be worth a start at running back.

Dez Bryant is questionable as well, but he expects to be out on the field at the Georgia Dome. Assuming Bryant is able to go, he should be in your lineup along with your regular Cowboys starters. Jason Witten is becoming a TE1 again after setting a record for most receptions in a game by a tight end last week. Miles Austin is also having a very productive year, making him a must-start every week. If Dallas falls behind early against Atlanta, Romo will be throwing often and helping boost fantasy points all around.

Atlanta Falcons

Matt Ryan and his receivers are paving the way to fantasy victories this season. While the aerial assault keeps putting points on the board, Michael Turner is struggling on the ground. He received 24 carries last week and managed just 58 yards on that workload. He’s still a threat to pound the ball into the end zone in goal line situations.

Ryan, Julio Jones, Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez all need to be in your lineup. All have produced big games throughout the season, and while Jones and White seem to go back and fourth with who will have the more impressive week, they both provide huge upside. Turner is worth a start still, but maybe as a flex play until he breaks out of his recent funk.
