Fantasy Football PPR Target Report, Week 9: Running Backs

Did your running back see enough targets in Week 9? Read on.

Matt Sullivan

Tampa Bay Bucaneer and former Boise State running back Doug Martin had the fantasy stat line of the year thus far, rushing 25 times for 255 yards, and four touchdowns. His touchdown runs went for 45 yards, 67 yards, 70 yards and he threw in a one yard TD run to cap off a monster fantasy day in Week 9. In the league I participate in, Martin scored 76 points. 76 POINTS!! The scoring in this league gives bonus points for the length of the touchdown, with his 67 and 70 yard TD runs providing the owner with 47 points just on those two TD runs.

Let’s take a look at the running backs who were targeted the most in Week 9:

Hitting the Bullseye

Trent Richardson, CLE

Richardson is going to be a top 5 ranked running back in 2013, if not sooner. TRich ran for 105 yards on 25 carries and no scores, but was also targeted nine times in the passing game. TRich caught six of his nine targets for 31 yards, and has now caught 31 of his 43 targets for 240 yards and a touchdown via the passing game. He ranks in the top 5 in targets among running backs.

Felix Jones, DAL

Jones caught all five of his targets on Sunday, with the five receptions going for 70 yards and no touchdowns vs the Falcons on Sunday Night Football. Jones should continues to see most of touches out of the backfield with DeMarco Murray out with an injury.

Missing the Target

Ray Rice, BAL

The Ravens gave Rice more touches in the running game in week 9, as he rushed 25 times for 98 yards and an eight yard TD run, but he was targeted just two times in the passing game. Rice caught both targets for 6 yards, and now has caught 31 of his 47 targets for 251 yards and no scores through the air.
