Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson is about 400 yards away from breaking Jerry Rice's single season record for receiving yards in one season. Johnson had another big game in Sunday's heart-breaking loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He is 572 yards shy of a 2,000-yard season, and I think he can do it. Over his last five games, he has 690 yards receiving, and now has eight games of 100+ yards receiving. Quite an amazing season from an amazing wide receiver.

Hitting the Bullseye
Calvin Johnson, DET
Johnson caught 13 of his 20 targets on Sunday for 171 yards and a touchdown. For the season, he has now caught 86 of his 143 targets for 1,428 yards and five touchdowns. He has now caught touchdown passes in four straight games, and gone of the 100-yard mark in five straight games, four of which have been for 140 yards or more. Johnson is still the best wide receiver in the game
Donnie Avery, IND
Colts quarterback Andrew Luck targeted Avery 14 times on Sunday, with Avery catching five of those passes for 91 yards and, more importantly, two touchdowns. Avery had his first double-digit target game since Week 6, and his first touchdown since Week 1. Avery might be a hot waiver wire pick-up this week, as a result.
Cecil Shorts III, JAC
Shorts has been one of the hottest wide receivers in the NFL over the last four or five weeks, and he had another double-digit target game on Sunday. Shorts caught seven of his 12 targets for 77 yards and yet another touchdown. Shorts has now scored a touchdown in four straight games, and five of his last seven. Keep an eye on the head injury that forced him to leave in the second half of Sunday's game with the Buffalo Bills.
Sidney Rice, SEA
Rice caught six of his nine targets from quarterback Russell Wilson in the Seattle Seahawks overtime win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. He has had a nose for the end zone over the last two months, catching a touchdown pass in five of his last seven games. Rice now has seven touchdowns on the season. He might be a sneaky good fantasy play over the last four weeks of the regular season.
Demaryius Thomas, DEN
Thomas is beginning to be a regular in the Wide Receiver Target Report lately. He had another big game on Sunday, catching eight of his ten targets from quarterback Peyton Manning for 99 yards and two touchdowns in the Denver Broncos' win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has now caught 69 of his 103 targets for 1,114 yards and eight touchdowns on the season. I think he will be a Top 5 wide receiver heading into 2013 drafts.
Missing the Target
Larry Fitzgerald, ARI
Fitzgerald is fast becoming one of the more disappointing wide receivers in the game this year. He caught just one of his seven targets on Sunday for 23 yards and no scores. For the season, he has caught just 56 of his 120 targets for 650 yards and four touchdowns. Over his last three games, he has caught just five of his 26 targets for 65 yards and no touchdowns. I have a feeling the Arizona Cardinals will be targeting a quarterback this offseason.
Roddy White, ATL
Is it me, or have the Atlanta Falcons been focusing on running the ball more over the last few weeks? White caught just one of his seven targets on Thursday night for 20 yards and no scores, and has now failed to score a touchdown in six straight games going back to Week 6 of the season. He is still a big target in the Falcons' offense, but it appears quarterback Matt Ryan has not been looking his way in the red zone.
