San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick got a chance to remind people why he was so highly regarded in the 2011 draft. Taking over for Alex Smith in the 2nd quarter, Kaepernick completed 5 of 9 passes for 40 yards and ran 3 times for 92 yards, including a dazzling 78-yard touchdown run on a read option. He was later replaced by Scott Tolzien after halftime. The 49ers went on to beat the Vikings 17-6.
Colin Kaepernick Shows Off Dual Threat Skills In Win Over Vikings: Fantasy Implications
Colin Kaepernick had a good showing as the 49ers primary backup QB. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: Kaepernick is no threat to unseat Smith at the moment, but he is battling Josh Johnson for the #2 QB spot, and a performance like tonight's goes a long way toward securing that spot. Barring something catastrophic happening to Smith, Kaep isn't expected to have much fantasy value this season, but he has enough long-term potential that keeper and dynasty players may want to keep an eye on him.
