Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin told The Miami Herald that the QB competition between Matt Moore, David Garrard and rookie Ryan Tannehill is "not that huge" and "relatively close". The battle for the starting job heated up on Friday, when Garrard was reported to miss 2-4 weeks with a knee surgery and Tannehill had an impressive preseason debut, completing 14 of 21 passes for 167 yards and the Dolphins' lone touchdown of the night (they would go on to lose 20-7). After the game, Moore - who finished his night 7-12 with 79 yards and a pick), had some kind words for the rookie: "It's evident and very clear he can play...I know he's good and talented."
Miami’s QB Competion “Relatively Close”, Says Coach Joe Philbin: Fantasy Implications
The Miami Dolphins’ QB competition is a lot closer than we thought. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: Well, we can’t expect Moore to be anything but diplomatic, not when the whole nation is watching him on HBO. But there’s truth in his quote - Tannehill has shown that he doesn’t expect to spend the 2012 season holding a clipboard. With Garrard all but out the picture for now, Miami’s next three preseason games just got way more intriguing.
