Analysis: Smith is only listed third on the depth chart behind LaRon Landry and Yeremiah Bell, but he was expected to split carries with Bell, spell the injury-prone Landry and be a valuable contributor on special teams. So while there's not much fantasy interest here, he is an important role player in New York's secondary. His injury leaves the Jets thin at safety, but it's not a torn MCL, and barring a recovery setback, he's not expected to miss any significant time in the regular season.
