Analysis: This sounds more like a team having a bad day than any indictment of Martin's abilities. However, Schiano said last week that Martin was one of three rookies that he was hoping to start this season and fumbling in practice isn't going to increase anyone's confidence. Martin is probably a middle-to-low No. 2 fantasy back right now, but that could change as the preseason goes along and his role become clearer. LeGarrette Blount is the other factor in this backfield and there may be weeks when he takes carries from Martin.
