The Charlotte Observer reports that Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera plans to play QB Cam Newton and the rest of the starters for the first half of Friday's preseason game with the Miami Dolphins. Newton went 2 of 6 for 17 yards in a 26-13 preseason loss to Houston. He played 13 snaps and Rivera says the goal would be to double the snaps for the starters against the Dolphins.
Cam Newton, Starters to Play 1st Half Against Dolphins: Fantasy Implications
Panthers coach Ron Rivera plans to play Cam Newton and the rest of the starters for the first half of Friday’s preseason game with Miami. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: Newton is one of the most exciting players in the NFL but fantasy owners -- and the Panthers for that matter -- are probably hoping to see something better than 17 yards on 2-for-6 passing. Newton threw for more than 4,000 yards in 2011 but will likely see defenses try and take away passes to last season's favorite target Steve Smith. He also ran for 14 touchdowns, and his athletic ability alone makes him a Top 5 quarterback on draft day.
