Newly signed Green Bay Packers RB Cedric Benson is not expected to play in Thursday's preseason game against Cleveland despite the team being very thin at running back. The Hudson Star-Observer reports that the starters will play the first quarter against the Browns. Running backs James Starks (turf toe), Brandon Saine (hamstring) and Du'ane Bennett (knee) are out for Thursday's game. Coach Mike McCarthy said earlier this week that he was hesitant to play Benson but the injury count at running back may force him to change his mind.
Packers RB Cedric Benson Not Likely to Play Thursday: Fantasy Implications
Despite being thin at running back, Cedric Benson is not likely to play for Green Bay in Thursday’s preseason game with Cleveland. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: It's hard to know what to make of this, especially with so many running backs injured. If healthy, Starks would figure to get the most carries but Benson was brought in as an insurance policy. The wild card in this is Alex Green, who is recovering from a torn ACL last season. Right now, Starks or Benson figure to mid-round picks at best, but monitor the situation in case it becomes clear that one of them will be featured.
