Chargers RB Ryan Mathews continues to be optimistic about his early return from a broken clavicle. On Thursday, he told XTRA Sports 1360 that there's "no doubt" he'll be ready for San Diego's regular season opener against the Raiders. Mathews is already out of a sling after just one week, and says he's been doing light workouts and will start running next week.
Ryan Mathews Plans On Playing In Week 1: Fantasy Implications
RB Ryan Mathews seems all but certain he’ll play in Week 1. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: Mathews' initial timetable was 4-6 weeks to recovery, which would put him at missing Week 1 and possibly Week 2 at worst, but he considers himself to be on the front edge of that timetable. If he's as close to coming back as he claims to be, he could actually be somewhat of a steal in fantasy drafts. The Chargers certainly hope his optimism isn't unfounded - the backup crew of Ronnie Brown, Jackie Battle, and Curtis Brinkley are hardly inspiring options.
