San Francisco 49ers RB Brandon Jacobs is still walking on crutches after suffering a potentially severe knee injury Saturday night, but an MRI on Sunday confirmed he had no serious damage, and on Monday coach Jim Harbaugh hinted that it's "possible" he could be ready for the regular season. Jacobs has 39 yards on 5 carries in the preseason.
Brandon Jacobs “Possible” Return For Week 1: Fantasy Implications
The 49ers think Brandon Jacobs will possibly be ready for the regular season. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: This is a better scenario than Jacobs could have ever hoped for after the scary scene on Saturday, but it's still unlikely he'll make much of an impact fantasy-wise. Initially signed in the offseason as insurance for the fragile Frank Gore, Jacobs quickly fell to 4th on the depth chart behind camp sensation Kendall Hunter and rookie LaMichael James, further sinking his already-limited value as a RB2 handcuff. At age 30 and with slumping stats in 2011, Jacobs is near the end of the line.
