Thaddeus Lewis has been impressing in Cleveland Browns practice, so much so that Colt McCoy or Seneca Wallace may be released to accommodate the second-year quarterback out of Duke, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Lewis impressed head coach Pat Shurmur last season when both men were with the St. Louis Rams.
Colt McCoy Or Seneca Wallace May Soon Be Cut By Browns: Fantasy Implications
Colt McCoy or Seneca Wallace may be released with Thaddeus Lewis impressing head coach Pat Shurmur in practice. We break down the fantasy implications.

“If we’re going to talk about Thad Lewis, being with him for a year in St. Louis, I saw him respond in a way that he did in the Detroit game,” Shurmur said. “(You get) very few reps and then go in there and play pretty well, which is an attribute that a backup initially has to have. Because of what’s going on with our quarterback situation, he hasn’t gotten many reps.”
Analysis: It's crazy to think that McCoy could go from being a middling, though by no means horrible, NFL starter last season to the unemployment line. The Browns are committed to Brandon Weeden, however, and would seem to rather avoid potential controversy than keep a capable backup like McCoy on the roster. McCoy has been a little sharper than Wallace in preseason, which may ultimately work against him in a way in this scenario. Ideally, the Browns will be able to work a trade for McCoy before they have to make roster cuts.
