With the New England Patriots resting their starters, Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley led the team in rushing during Monday night's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Vereen earned the start, rushing 10 times for 20 yards and catching four passes for 29 yards. Ridley carried the ball 10 times, all in the second half, for 25 yards. He failed to record a reception on two targets.

Analysis: The Patriots' running back depth chart didn't become any clearer Monday. The Eagles' defensive line made rushing the ball near impossible. Vereen shined in the passing game, however, though whether it was enough to separate himself from Ridley remains to be seen. Ridley can at least say he wasn't 100 percent, dressing for the game at the last minute coming off an apparent leg injury. Brandon Bolden earned seven carries, but gained just 14 yards, and Danny Woodhead earned the day off. Draft a Pats running back at your own risk. You have been warned.
