The move was reportedly made as a precaution, and is not an indication of Peterson's progress from a torn ACL suffered late last season. The coaching staff is currently re-evaluating its no-contact policy for the veteran and uber-talented, though injury-prone, running back.

Analysis: Peterson would no doubt like to see some action in preseason, but he has reportedly been understanding of the coaching staff's decision. The Vikings' success this season begins and ends with Peterson, and there is no way that Frazier will be taking any risks that aren't absolutely necessary. From a fantasy standpoint, you should be just as cautious with the fragile back as the Vikings are. That means waiting longer than usual to draft him (Peterson's average draft position is around the beginning of the second round in standard 10-team leagues) and handcuffing him properly with Toby Gerhart.
