Raiders head coach Dennis Allen told NFL.com that he won’t be babying Darren McFadden this season despite the running back’s injury-plagued career. We break down the fantasy implications.

“I think the thing that you look at is as a running back, I mean, it’s a tough position,” Allen said. “They take some shots and that’s part of football. We can’t baby him. We can’t protect him. We got to go out there and play football and give him an opportunity to carry the ball, and we hope that he’s able to stay healthy.”
Analysis: McFadden is one of the most intriguing prospects in fantasy football because he is clearly a Top 5 talent yet his injury problems spook owners so badly that he occasionally falls as far as the second round. Lisfranc surgery derailed what was on track to be a phenomenal season last year, and he has looked great in his limited touches in preseason so far. Allen gave every indication that McFadden will be relied on heavily this season. Just hope upon hope that McFadden’s body holds up if you take the plunge and draft him.
