Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has missed most of training camp with a lacerated spleen, but the good news is that Adam Schefter reports that he won't need surgery. However, at this time he is still questionable to be ready in time for the season opener against the Giants on September 5th. Witten has played in all but on game of his nine year career.
Jason Witten Won’t Need Surgery, Questionable For Season Opener: Fantasy Implications
Cowboys tight end Jason Witten will avoid surgery, but is questionable for week one. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Implications: Despite the consistency of some NFL players, we saw as with Peyton Manning last year that they are still human and capable of getting hurt. Witten hasn't missed a game since his rookie season in 2003 and hasn't missed a start since 2006. He's one of the most consistent players in the NFL, but at this point fantasy owners should draft him as a backup option if they want to be safe. It would be very hard to predict how long a spleen injury could sideline the Cowboys tight end.
