The Minnesota Vikings are in the early stages of giving Adrian Peterson some upper-body contact, Jeremy Fowler of The Pioneer Press reports. Fowler also says he hears that Peterson has experienced no swelling in his left knee the day after practices. Peterson, who is recovering from a torn ACL and MCL, is hoping to return for the regular-season opener Sept. 9.
Vikings Giving Adrian Peterson Some Upper-Body Contact: Fantasy Implications
The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly in the early stages of giving running back Adrian Peterson some upper-body contact. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: This is encouraging but sounds consistent with Minnesota’s plan to control contact on Peterson. For fantasy owners, he is still somewhat of a gamble on draft day. He likely won’t have had any game action ahead of the season-opener and probably won’t be depended on right away as an every down back. Peterson is not a No. 1 fantasy back heading into the season and is right now a risky No. 2 until we see what he can do in a game.
