Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will not play in the final two preseason games for Minnesota and head coach Leslie Frazier has said that no date has been set for when he'll be able to make contact in practice. The coach also acknowledged that Peterson will have to be able to participate in full contact practice before being able to play in a game. Peterson has been out with an ACL injury since December 24th and it typically takes about eight months for a full recovery from surgery.

Fantasy Implications: Peterson is treading that line of when a full recovery can be made, but it's not safe to assume that he'll be healthy when the season starts on September 9th. Most running backs are not quite the same in their year after injury and if you were to ideally have an ACL injury, it would be at the beginning of the season as was the case for Jamaal Charles. For Peterson to have his injury at the end of the 2011 season, fantasy owners should proceed with even more caution and possibly not expect him to play in the season opener. He should be treated as an RB2 with the potential to regain full strength during the year.
