Minnesota Vikings tight end John Carlson may have to wait until Week 1 to get on the field for his new team. The veteran sprained the MCL in his right leg last month when a teammate landed on him during a drill. Carlson tells 1500 ESPN Twin Cities that he knows the offense on paper but hasn't been able to take the physical reps. Carlson is out of Friday's game with the San Diego Chargers and is not likely to play in the team's final preseason game.

Analysis: The Vikings gave Carlson a five-year, $25 million contract in March so it has to be a disappointing that he hasn't had any preseason game action. Even before the injury, Kyle Rudolph was the Minnesota tight end that fantasy owners would more likely target. Tight end is a deep enough position where fantasy owners can draft someone else and monitor this situation to see if either player will help a fantasy roster.
