Russell Wilson will be the Seattle Seahawks starter at quarterback for their season opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 1, head coach Pete Carroll announced Sunday night. Wilson beat out Matt Flynn for the job, going 13-for-19 passing for 185 yards and two touchdowns during Friday night's preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Russell Wilson Named Seahawks Starter For Season Opener: Fantasy Implications
Russell Wilson was named the starting quarterback for Seahawks’ season opener by head coach Pete Carroll on Sunday night. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: Wilson has been very impressive in preseason, arguably on par with what Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III have done in Indianapolis and Washington D.C., respectively. Over three games, the rookie out of Wisconsin has gone 36-for-56 passing for 464 yards, five touchdowns and just one interception while rushing for over 100 yards. Flynn wasn't bad in camp, but he wasn't spectacular either despite being signed for a sizable sum of money as the former backup behind Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. Wilson shouldn't be considered a starter in standard leagues, but he makes an intriguing QB2 especially in keeper leagues.
