Cam Newton did not have his greatest performance during the Carolina Panthers’ preseason game against the New York Jets on Sunday night. He completed just 6-of-15 passes for 60 yards and a touchdown, and carried the ball twice for 16 yards.
Cam Newton Fantasy Football Stock Remains Unchanged Against Jets
Cam Newton’s third game of the preseason wasn’t anything to write home about. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: Newton hasn’t been spectacular this preseason outside of his first start. The past two games have been forgettable, but this shouldn’t concern fantasy owners too much. The 2011 Offensive Rookie of the Year was not working with his No. 1 target against New York, as Steve Smith is out with a staph infection on his foot. When the regular season rolls around Newton should be ready to go. He’s easily a QB1 in standard leagues with the numbers he put up last year. His matchup this Thursday against the Pittsburgh Steelers shouldn’t be a big concern for any Newton owners. He’ll likely be extremely limited if he plays at all.
