Ryan Mathews believes he's ahead of schedule in his recovery after breaking his collarbone. The Chargers No. 1 running back is determined to make it back for Week 1 of the regular season.
Ryan Mathews May Be Back For Fantasy Football Owners In Week 1
The Chargers may get Ryan Mathews back in action sooner than people expected. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: The initial diagnosis gave Mathews 4-6 weeks on his timetable for a return. Opening day for San Diego will put him right at four weeks, but Mathews seems to believe he will be good to go at this point. He was been wearing an attachment to his clavicle that is supposed to stimulate the bone and speed up recovery, so fantasy owners can only hope that process will actually help. The Chargers don't have any solid options at running back behind Mathews. Ronnie Brown appears to be the front-runner for work while Mathews is out. However, Norv Turner will likely divvy up the carries among a platoon still.
