San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Brown could benefit from a change in the NFL's injured reserve rule Thursday as detailed by ESPN's Adam Schefter. Under the new rule, teams will be able to bring back one player placed on IR after Sept. 4 for use later in the season. Formerly, once a play was place on IR his season was over. The Chargers can now safely place Brown on IR without having to worry about using up roster space in hopes that that the wideout can return later in the season.
Vincent Brown Fantasy Football Value Could Rise With New IR Rule
Brown could benefit from the NFL’s new injured reserve rule. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: Brown is expected to return around the midpoint of the season, making him a perfect test case for the new IR rule. His fantasy value also goes up as the possibility of missing the entire 2012 season goes down. Brown probably isn’t worth targeting in fantasy drafts considering how long he will have to be on the shelf before he can be productive. The new rule does make him as his potential return date approaches, however. Brown was expected to take on an expanded role in the Chargers’ offense this season.
