Jeff Demps tweaked his leg during Wednesday's preseason game between the New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys, the Boston Herald reports. A precautionary MRI taken by the team came back negative. The Patriots will have to make the difficult decision of keeping Demps on the 53-man roster, exposing him to waivers so that he can land on the practice squad, or placing him on injured reserve.
Jeff Demps Feels Leg ‘Tweak’ Wednesday, MRI Negative: Fantasy Implications
Jeff Demps tweaked his leg during Wednesday’s game between the Patriots and the Giants. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: The NFL’s new IR rule could make this an easier decision than expected. If Demps is placed on IR after Sept. 4, the team will be able to recall the speedy running back later in the season AND use his roster spot for another player. Whether Demps is prepared for the toll of the NFL coming from training for the Olympics is a legitimate question. The Pats don’t seem to want to risk losing him, however, making IR a very tempting option. One thing’s nearly certain: Don’t expect much, if any fantasy contribution from Demps this season.
