San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Mathews has missed nearly all of training camp and preseason after suffering a broken clavicle August 9th. Despite his fast rehab and optimistic outlook, the Chargers aren't expected to play him at the start of the season, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune. Coach Norv Turner plans on using a rotation of Ronnie Brown, Le'Ron McClain and Curtis Brinkley in the meantime.
Ryan Mathews Expected To Miss At Least One Game: Fantasy Implications
The Chargers are expected to sit Ryan Mathews for Week 1. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: With Mathews out and multiple injuries to the O-line, the Chargers’ run game has sputtered in the preseason, averaging only 2.4 yards per carry. Mathews had an original recovery timetable of 4-6 weeks, and the team is holding him to the backend of that period even though he has been cleared for physical activity. In other words, don’t panic about his fantasy value too much - he should be at 100% by Week 2 or 3. Stash him on your bench until then, and don’t bother with his backup options.
