Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith will sit out the final preseason game with an ankle injury, as expected. Starting in his place will be second-year back Mikel Leshoure. While the rest of the Lions regulars will start the game, such as Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson, it's unlikely that they will go more than one series. This should just give Smith another week to rest his ankle while he prepares for week one and is likely still the starter.
Kevin Smith Out, Mikel Leshoure Starting: Situation Unclear For Fantasy Owners
Kevin Smith will sit out the final preseason game while Mikel Leshoure gets the start. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Implications: Leshoure made his debut last week and rushed five times for only one yard. This will be his final tune-up and opportunity to show that he could be deserving of more regular season carries, though the injury prone Smith could open the door at any moment and is already ailing again in the preseason. The back to own is still Smith, who could be capable of 100 yards total per game if healthy, but he has rarely been able to stay on the field in his career.
