Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is strongly suggesting that TE Jason Witten may not play until Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. Jones said Friday on KRLD 105.3 FM The Fan that having Witten miss the first game of the season would give his lacerated spleen 10 extra days to heal. Witten was hurt Aug. 13 against the Oakland Raiders in a preseason game. The injury, at this time, does not require surgery.
Cowboys Owner Suggests Jason Witten May Not Play Until Week 2: Fantasy Implications
The owner of the Dallas Cowboys says the team is considering not playing tight end Jason Witten until Week 2 as he recovers from a lacerated spleen.

Analysis: Witten not playing against the Giants should not be a shock to any fantasy owner who drafted Witten for this season. He was expected to need two to three weeks to recover without surgery and the Seattle game puts him in that time. Monitor this injury in case Dallas decides to turn Witten loose in the season-opener but it sounds like Jones and the coaches are considering a Week 2 return.
