The Pittsburgh Steelers have released 21 players to cut their roster down to 53 well before the NFL's 9:00 p.m. deadline. Among the most significant cuts, the team slashed the wide receiving corps to just four players: Antonio Brown, Mike Wallace, Emmanuel Sanders and Jerricho Cotchery. Tyler Beiler, Toney Clemons, David Gilreath, Marquis Maze and Derrick Williams were released, though two or three may remain with the team as part of the practice squad.

Analysis: The decision to keep so few receivers is a little bizarre, especially since new offensive coordinator Bruce Arians has been known to go five-wide in the past. Regardless, Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown are really the only two significant options in standard fantasy leagues. Those that go a bit deeper can take a look at Sanders, who caught 22 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns last season despite missing five games due to a foot injury. With Hines Ward out of the picture, he should be in for a bigger role this season.
