Week 1 of the 2012 fantasy season is behind us, and no position was turned upside down more as we move into Week 2 than wide receiver. The waiver wires have been buzzing with names like Kevin Ogletree, Andrew Hawkins, Stephen Hill and Dexter McCluster. We are all holding our breaths to see what this week has to bring.

We all love Thursday games as they break up the week and rush football into our worlds a few days earlier. But the Thursday games are going to cause unique timing problems when it comes to positional rankings and injuries. For example, Greg Jennings would most likely play with his sore groin if the Packers played on Sunday, but since they play on Thursday he sat out.

Each week players will be “On the Rise” based on their week’s performance and another group of players will be “Falling”. Let’s take a look at this week’s list.

On the Rise:

  • Kevin Ogletree - Kevin emerged on opening night to become the darling of the Week One waiver wire. He was undrafted in nearly every league, and yet he led all receivers in fantasy points in nearly every scoring system. But will his week one success by sustainable enough to be a consistent WR2?
  • Reggie Wayne - We saw glimpses of the "New Reggie" in the preseason, but no one saw 18 targets and 135 yards in his week one future. He looks to be PPR gold in 2012.
  • Kenny Britt - Britt's one-game suspension is behind him, and he will be playing on Sunday. Two items of caution: he is still coming back from a knee injury and his coach has already announced that he will be limiting Kenny's snaps in week two. Perhaps let him ride your pine one more week.

Falling:

  • Wes Welker - Where have you gone, Wes Welker? From the No. 2 WR in all of fantasy in 2011 to three catches for only fourteen yards in week one. It may be too early to panic on Welker, but when the Patriots refused to give him a new contract this offseason, I wondered if it was signs of things to come: the phasing out of Wes Welker.
  • Injured WR's - The list of injured players at WR is almost too lengthy to mention. Many players missed practice on Wednesday, were limited or are listed as questionable for Sunday. This list includes the likes of Calvin Johnson, Greg Jennings, Kenny Britt, Jeremy Maclin, Steve Smith (CAR), Hakeem Nicks, Sidney Rice, Denarius Moore, Nate Washington, Pierre Garcon, Stephen Hill, Steve Johnson, etc. Be sure you clear your lineups of any injury concerns before Thursday's game. Also note, that David Nelson (BUF) was placed on injured reserve following Sunday's game. And Jacoby Ford's season may be over with a surgery pending on his foot.
  • Titan WR's - One has to wonder what the return of stud WR Kenny Britt will mean for the value of the other receiving threats for the Titans. Jared Cook, Kendall Wright and Nate Washington all stand to see a reduced load.
  • Larry Fitzgerald - Larry is no stranger to poor quarterback play recently. However, with John Skelton's injury in week one, we'll have to see if Kevin Kolb can feed Fitz the ball. His four grabs in week one will need to increase dramatically, so his fantasy value will match his draft position.
  • Titus Young - This young wide out's decision making is starting to worry me. In week one he head-butted an opposing defensive player, drawing a flag from the officials and the bench from his coach. Titus is talented, but troubled.
