As the 49ers ranked No. 1 in the NFL in rush defense last season, it wasn't a surprise Kevin Smith couldn't get much done in Week 2 against San Francisco. Smith carried the ball 16 times for 53 yards, adding two receptions for another 17 yards.
Kevin Smith Provides Little Fantasy Support In Week 2
Kevin Smith couldn’t get much done on the ground against the 49ers. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Credit the Lions for sticking with the running game over the course of their matchup with the 49ers. Smith had solid stats last week, but the Niners are pretty tough for any running back to take on. Mikel Leshoure is now done serving his two-game suspension, so he will be in the mix going forward. Smith by no means has the No. 1 spot locked up, and if Leshoure gets off to a hot start, Smith's owners will be turning for help elsewhere.
