Ryan Mathews has not officially been cleared to play this weekend for the San Diego Chargers, but he was able to carry a full workload in practice Wednesday as he recovers from surgery to repair his broken clavicle.
Ryan Mathews Ready To Make Week 3 Fantasy Debut
Ryan Mathews says he is ready to play for the Chargers this weekend. We break down the fantasy implications.

“I feel great, I feel healthy, and I feel strong,” Mathews said. “I think (the coaches) know what I can do. I know they know I’m ready. It’s a long season, and they’re going to be real smart with me. Really, it’s just taking it day by day and seeing whether I go Saturday when they make that final decision.”
Fantasy Impact: Barring a setback, Mathews appears ready to get back on the field for Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons. He is a potentially elite fantasy football option when fully healthy. There is reason to be squeamish starting a player coming off a long layoff, however. Move Mathews into your lineup this week with caution. If you can, you might be better off waiting a week to observe how he performs.
