Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith says he used some "unchoice words" with Cam Newton because the quarterback was sulking on the bench during Thursday night's loss to the New York Giants. Smith said (via The Charlotte Observer) that he told Newton that he needed to get off the bench and take in some "mental reps" while backup quarterback Derek Anderson finished out the game. Newton was also criticized last year by teammates about his demeanor.

Fantasy Impact: Fantasy owners probably had a few things to say about Newton’s performance on Thursday, but it likely had nothing to do with him sulking on the bench. Newton threw three interceptions and that is the kind of game that can pop up when he has an off night. Newton did rush for a touchdown and remains one of the most potentially explosive quarterbacks in fantasy football.
